The goal of the project was to design and develop a new website for The Little Magpies Nursery, aimed at attracting new parents, providing clear, accessible information, and enabling online registration. The site needed to reflect the nursery’s warm, caring ethos while also serving as a practical resource for current and prospective families.
Working independently, I was responsible for the entire process from initial concept and design to development and launch. I collaborated closely with the Nursery Manager and Director, gathering feedback and content to ensure the final product met the needs of both staff and parents.

The design was crafted in Figma, with development completed in WordPress using Elementor for flexible content management. I used Adobe Suite for branded visual assets, and implemented HTML and CSS for custom styling. Content was supported by AI tools to streamline copywriting. I also ensured integration with third-party systems like Nursery in a Box and other childcare management portals to support registration and parent communication.
A key challenge was working within a completely new industry. As this was my first time designing for the early years education sector, I invested time into researching compliance standards, Ofsted requirements, and the informational needs of parents. This ensured the site met industry expectations while still delivering a visually engaging and user-friendly experience.
The brand new website helped the startup nursery flourish by attracting new families and providing a clear, easy-to-navigate hub for both staff and parents. It streamlined access to important information and integrated nursery portals, making day-to-day operations and communication more efficient.
